TBZ Literacy Tutors help kids learn to read. We partner with the Winship School in Brighton, where for 22 years we’ve worked one-on-one with students in kindergarten through third grade, pairing with favorite teachers to design lessons. We’ve even created a school library: TBZ members donated over a thousand books, bought and assembled bookshelves, and covered, labeled and shelved each book.
Currently about 10 volunteers tutor children for one to two hours each week. And testing shows that our tutoring truly helps. Not only do the students we work with improve their reading skills, they do better overall both academically and socially.
You’re welcome to join us whether you have prior experience or not. Training is available for anyone who would like to become a volunteer tutor. If interested, please contact us.
