Annual Community Retreat

Once a year, the TBZ community gathers for a Shabbaton (weekend) of meaningful services, delicious meals, interesting programming and, of course, amazing community building. The Community Retreat is a wonderful opportunity to deepen TBZ friendships, and to spend Shabbat together with the community, relaxing, breathing deeply, praying, and enjoying true Shabbat menucha (rest). All TBZ members are encouraged to attend! There are programming and services for people of all ages!

Each year, the Community Retreat offers a wide variety of programming, services (including a Shabbat Nariya Service on Friday night – musical Shabbat), activities, and learning opportunities. Offerings for adults typically include early morning hikes, Torah study, a variety of workshops, and late night games and singing. There are opportunities to practice yoga, meditation, and learn from our rabbis, other rabbis and teachers in the community.

Offerings for children engage all ages, with sports, games, theater activities, and music. Childcare is available at all times throughout the retreat, except during Shabbat services.

An 1.5 hour drive from Boston, The Craigville Retreat Center is nestled in a picturesque resort village on Cape Cod, overlooking a magnificent sweep of salt marsh, and opens on to the beautiful Craigville Beach. The beach is a perfect setting for kite-flying, frisbee, and stargazing, and if the weather permits, swimming is allowed. Craigville also has volleyball courts, open green fields, and a playground. The kitchen is fully kashered before we arrive, and there is a chef on-site who prepares hearty meals for us, without the use of canned or processed foods.
