Rabbinic Interns

TBZ is blessed with a partnership with the Rabbinical School of Hebrew College. Since the inception of the school, many rabbinical and cantorial students have found a spiritual home with us.

Currently the internship includes, leading services, teaching and supporting our Beit Rabban (Hebrew school) staff, teaching Adult Learning classes, officiating at life cycle events and more. Our rabbinic interns are often in their 4th or 5th year of rabbinical school and spend one or two years at our shul.

Meet our Rabbinic Intern, Leah Carnow

Leah Carnow is joining us as a Rabbinic intern in June 2023. She is entering her fifth and final year of rabbinical school at Hebrew College. Prior to rabbinical school, Leah worked as an actor, a health administrator, and a Jewish educator in the Boston area. She is a registered yoga teacher and has taught vinyasa and restorative yoga to children and adults of all ages, in both English and Hebrew. Leah is passionate about stories, embodied spirituality, and pastoral care. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, seeing live music and theater, baking bread, and drumming on her darbuka. Over the past four years of rabbinical school, Leah has helped lead prayer with Nava Tehila in Jerusalem, served the Temple Sinai community as a rabbinic intern and family educator, worked as a chaplain intern at BIDMC, and supported the Miller Center’s PsalmSeason project. Along with her partner Yoni Battat, Leah has been a part of the TBZ community for many years. She is excited to be returning to Boston after spending the past two years studying in Jerusalem, and she is especially looking forward to serving TBZ this year as a rabbinic intern.
