From Bean-to-Gelt: A Hands-on Exploration of Chocolate, Judaism, and the Sweetness of Hanukkah (in person)

December 2, 2026
4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

In this 2-hour program for our Ilanot students and older, Beit Rabban learners will explore the history of chocolate and its connections to Jewish culture, and make chocolate from start to finish, or “bean-to-gelt,” creating something meaningful with their own hands! Led by Alex Voynow, a former chocolate maker at Dandelion Chocolate, Youth Programs Associate Director at Wilderness Torah, educator at the Jewish Farm School, Teva Learning Center, and Eden Village summer camp, and current Master’s candidate at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Alex brings a unique expertise in creating highly engaging educational programs based in Jewish life and culinary culture!
