Join Boston NewGen, Temple Beth Zion, Dr. Shayna Weiss, and the Halachic Left as we screen the award-winning documentary Coexistence, My Ass! A film that chronicles the life and career of comedian and peace activist Noam Shuster-Eliassi, Coexistence, My Ass! is a side-splitting, thought-provoking cinematic experience unlike an other.
All proceeds raised from ticket sales will be directed towards NIF’s peace and anti-occupation work.
About Shayna Weiss
Dr. Shayna Weiss is the Senior Associate Director of the Schusterman Center for Israel Studies at Brandeis University. Hailing from Jacksonville, Florida, she received her PhD from New York University in Hebrew and Judaic Studies. Her research interests include the Haredi community and the politics of Israeli popular culture. Weiss has served as a consultant for HBO and other media companies. She appeared in a 2021 documentary titled Israel, terre de séries (Israel, Land of Series), which aired on Canal+ in France, where she spoke about the rise of Israeli television as a global market force. Currently, Weiss is completing a book on gender segregation in the Israeli public sphere titled, Holy Waters: Gender Segregation and the Rise of Haredi Politics in Israel.
