We look forward to celebrating the High Holy Days with you!
At TBZ, our High Holiday preparations are underway, both spiritually and logistically, as we move into this sacred season. We do so with the awareness that we live in times of profound brokenness and uncertainty, as Jews and as Americans. And still, we gather to find strength in one another, to pray, to reflect, and to recommit ourselves to the work of healing, justice, and community.
Rosh Hashanah begins Monday evening, September 22
Yom Kippur begins Wednesday evening, October 1
If you’re already thinking ahead to the High Holidays, you’ll find helpful information below.
Our High Holiday services will be spiritually engaging, joyful, musical, and deeply meaningful. Planning is well underway, and more details will be coming soon. In the meantime, here are some important updates and opportunities to begin preparing.
📅 Service Schedule
Please see the schedule of services below, at the bottom of this page, so you can begin to plan.
🎟 Tickets Are Required
To ensure safety and effective planning, everyone attending services, whether in person or online, must have a ticket.
What’s included with TBZ membership:
Ticket pricing:
Tickets can be purchased online for family of TBZ members, guests of TBZ members, and the broader community.
Tickets include full access to both in-person and online services. Everyone attending online only is still expected to have a ticket.
Our doors (physical and virtual) are open to all. If finances present a challenge, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Benjamin or Sarah (office@tbzbrookline.org – 617-566-8171). We are here to help.
📬 Membership, Reservations & Packets
If you are a TBZ member, to receive your tickets, your membership for 2025–2026 must be renewed and your account must be current or on a payment plan. If you haven’t yet renewed or have questions, now is the time! Please contact the office (office@tbzbrookline.org or 617-566-8171; Sarah or Benjamin can assist you).
We will not assign seats or ask about early/late service attendance, but we do ask that you let us know whether you plan to attend in person or online—this is essential for our planning. More details to follow.
We kindly ask that you do not invite guests without confirming they have obtained a ticket first.
📖 A New Mahzor for a New Year
This year, we will begin using Mahzor Lev Shalem for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. It aligns beautifully with TBZ’s values, offering accessible transliterations, rich commentary, and deep spiritual engagement.
To accompany the mahzor, we are also creating a TBZ High Holiday Companion, featuring TBZ-specific songs and piyyutim (liturgical poems). To help us become familiar with the new mahzor, Rabbi Lenny Gordon, one of its editors, will lead Elul study sessions. Stay tuned for dates!
🏠 Making Room for Our Growing Community
Thanks to our congregation’s continued growth, we’re reimagining our use of space to accommodate all who wish to join us:
Important change: On Yom Kippur, the davening team will lead from the bimah instead of the floor to allow for more seating at the front of the sanctuary. All arrangements comply with fire safety and security regulations.
Please note that this year, as our community continues to grow, we will not have a community break fast following Ne’ilah. Instead, we will share a celebratory snack to break the fast as we exit the sanctuary together. This simple, communal moment will allow us to conclude Yom Kippur with sweetness and connection.
🕯️ Yizkor Book Sign-Up
We invite you to honor the memory of your loved ones by including their names in the TBZ Yizkor Book, which will be used on Yom Kippur and throughout the year whenever Yizkor is recited.
Please submit names by September 10 to ensure inclusion. Names that were included in last year’s Yizkor Book do not need to be re-submitted. If you have any questions, contact the TBZ office.
