Pesach

All you need to know to celebrate Pesach with TBZ

Please see the schedule of events and services below, as well as resources, information about selling your hametz and our seder matching program. (For more information and resources, click here for the Pesach email that was sent to the the TBZ community.)

The first night of Pesach is Friday, April 15.

Seder Matching:
No one should be alone for Pesach and at TBZ we take the mitzvah of opening our doors seriously. For that reason, we have created a seder matching program. If you are able to host or would like to be hosted, please fill out this form by Friday, April 8th. Rachel Goodman will follow up with your Pesach Match.

Selling of Hametz:
Hametz is leavened food and is forbidden on Pesach. Jews may not own, eat or benefit from hametz during Passover. Where disposing of hametz will result in considerable financial loss, it is permissible to temporarily sell one’s hametz to someone who is not Jewish, who owns the hametz during Pesach and relinquishes it after Pesach. This “selling” does not include explicit hametz i.e. foodstuffs, perishable or not. This is a wonderful opportunity to donate closed boxes and cans to the Brookline Food Pantry.

To sell your hametz, you may fill out this online form or download and print this PDF file and bring it to TBZ.

Pesach Kashrut Guide:
The annual Kashrut guide provided by the Rabbinical Assembly Pesach is a brief outline of the policies and procedures relevant to the preparation of a kosher for Pesach home. This guide is intended to help families maintain a kosher for Pesach home in accordance with the principles of Conservative Judaism and its understanding of Jewish Law. There is also an addendum for 5782. We recommend reading the 5782 Addendum either prior to reading the Pesach Guide or alongside the guide.
