Shemini Atzeret and Beyond: Preparing the Soul for Winter with Rav Tiferet (in person)

October 15, 2026
7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Thursdays, October 15 and 22, 7:00-8:30pm (in person)
As the Jewish calendar turns toward the quieter, darker months of the year, Shemini Atzeret invites us to pause, gather in, and embrace a different kind of spiritual work. The festival marks a sacred transition from the intensity of summer and the High Holy Days into the season ahead. Drawing on Jewish texts, spiritual wisdom, and insights from Kari Leibowitz’s book How to Winter, join Rav Tiferet, a recovering winter hater, to examine how winter can become not merely a season for us to endure, but an opportunity for growth, rest, connection, and renewal. Through discussion, readings, and practical exercises, we will discover how Jewish tradition and contemporary psychology can help us cultivate warmth, meaning, and joy during the coldest months of the year.
