From the turn of the 20th century through the 1960s, the neighborhoods of Roxbury, Dorchester, and Mattapan were thriving Jewish communities. Explore the famous landmarks—Blue Hill Avenue, the G&G Deli, numerous synagogues—in a walking tour and learn how federal, state, and local housing policies contributed to the Jewish exodus to the suburbs and Boston’s racially segregated neighborhoods. Lew Finfer, founder of MassAction for Justice, will lead our tour, which will also include historical highlights of the 60s and 70s Civil Rights Movement in Boston. (Rain date 7/13)
