An easy holiday to celebrate, just eat ice cream for breakfast (or at kiddush!).
International Ice Cream for Breakfast Day is celebrated on the first Shabbat in February. To celebrate properly, you have to eat ice cream for breakfast on Shabbat morning. Come have ice cream at TBZ!
The holiday was invented in the 1960s by Florence Rappaport in Rochester, NY, inspired by her two youngest children. She explained, “It was cold and snowy and the kids were complaining that it was too cold to do anything. So I just said, ‘Let’s have ice cream for breakfast.’” The next year, they reminded her of the day and a tradition began. When her kids grew older, they shared the holiday with all their friends and the tradition spread internationally. It has been celebrated in Israel, China, Nepal, Namibia, Germany, New Zealand, Canada, and Honduras.
