How We Can Support Returning Citizens: Re-Entry After Incarceration

May 12, 2022
7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

The TBZ/GBIO Reentry Team is excited to announce a special Zoom program on the challenges and opportunities people coming out of Massachusetts prisons and jails face as they reenter the community and try to make a decent life for themselves and their families after having served their sentences.

Promoting successful reentry for “returning citizens” is a critical goal for GBIO organizing this year. This Zoom will be offered especially for our TBZ community and will feature guest speakers (all formerly incarcerated people), who’ll share their stories of their challenges and successes coming back into the community after incarceration.  For a quick video of GBIO Re-Entry work, click HERE.

We will also discuss what our TBZ community can do to facilitate the successful reentry for the thousands of people who are released from prison or jail each year.

Our goals are to educate our community, build support for this work, and have a big turnout for a GBIO-wide Assembly on May 26th which will include an action to encourage Massachusetts and Boston legislators to support important reforms to improve the reentry process for “returning citizens.” Supporting formerly incarcerated people as they try to create decent lives is a POWERFUL ACT OF SOCIAL JUSTICE. Please plan to attend our Zoom on THURSDAY, MAY 12 and the GBIO Assembly (Hybrid/Zoom or In-Person) on May 26th.
