Encountering God in the Modern World with Rabbi Sam Seicol (in person)

Join us to kick off our TBZ Scholars in Residence initiative! Using the film “Oh, God!” starring George Burns and John Denver as the main text, this series will explore the idea of prophecy from Biblical times and its possibility in the 21st century. Attendees will watch the film in sections over the weeks, and share thoughts and discussions in a relaxed and affirming atmosphere.  

Some questions to be explored will include:

• How did Biblical prophets know they were talking to or receiving communication from the Divine?  
• Who decided when this ended?
• What form(s) of human/Divine communication developed in Judaism?
• How would a Biblical prophet be treated today?
