STEP: Science Training Encouraging Peace
We will be joined by TBZ members Allen Taylor and Kim Kronenberg for a presentation and discussion about the program they run called STEP (Science Training Encouraging Peace). STEP provides funding for tuition and stipends for pairs of Israeli and Palestinian (one Israeli, one Palestinian per pair) graduate students in the sciences in Israel. They will share some of the challenges of running such a program in the current political environment, but also how a person-to-person program like STEP can make inroads where other kinds of programs (or governments) fail.
