Parent Steering Committee
Beit Rabban, TBZ’s innovative Hebrew School, has as its main goal to connect our children to Judaism through stimulating, interactive learning. We developed the Beit Rabban program to address the false notion that Hebrew school is boring and pointless. Our greatest desire is for TBZ’s children to become captivated by a vibrant Judaism. Beit Rabban classes are held once a week on Wednesday afternoons, for children in grades K-7.
Beit Rabban’s Parent Steering Committee is thrilled to welcome new and returning students and teachers to our program. We organize special programs for students during class time, and build community among Beit Rabban families via special events throughout the year.
Please mark your calendars for Welcome Back Ice Cream in the Park on Shabbat afternoon, September 17 at Griggs Park; a parent meeting during Beit Rabban on September 21, and a Sukkot potluck on October 19. Looking ahead, be sure to save the date for Shabbat b’Yachad (hosted, in-home Shabbat meals) December 2 & 3 and Beit Rabban Shabbat March 3.
We welcome the participation of all Beit Rabban parents and grandparents in our committee! Contact Rebecca Blouwolff or Julia Freedson at firstname.lastname@example.org to get involved.
The mission of the Beit Rabban Parent Steering Committee is three-fold:
1) To serve as an advisory/steering group to our education coordinator, rabbis, and teachers with regard to both short and long-term strategic planning
2) To organize and support special programs/projects for our students, such as speakers, tikkun olam/tzedakah projects, home-based and TBZ pot-lucks, and Beit Rabban Shabbat, and
3) To facilitate relationships and connections between students and families in an effort to continue building a strong, vibrant community.
If you choose to become involved with this Committee, you will have an opportunity to influence the development and expansion of a dynamic, experientially-driven, multi-faceted Jewish educational program. Volunteers get to know other parents and caregivers and to create a fun and exciting educational vision together. The Steering Committee (rabbi, education coordinator, committee co-chairs, classroom co-ordinators, program co-chairs) meets at TBZ 4-5 times each academic year. Ideally, someone interested in joining the Steering Committee for an upcoming year should speak with the co-chairs of the Steering Committee by the end of the school year or over the summer. Though the membership of the Steering Committee should be in place by the start of the school year, there are always opportunities to volunteer to help with programs throughout the year.
For more information on opportunities to join our Committee and help the development of our wonderful school, we encourage you to contact one of the Committee chairs at email@example.com
