The Tent: A Jewish Learning Community for Greater Boston Teens at Temple Israel, is a pluralistic learning community comprised of many Boston area congregations. Under the “Tent”, our teens make new friends, experience new synagogue cultures, and learn from incredible clergy and faculty from the Brookline area. Learn more here.
“The Tent” describes the warmth of our community; our students feel welcome here. It stands for our openness to ideas and ways of learning about our Jewish lives, and for our openness to any teen in Greater Boston who wants to join us. “The Tent” says that we are strong yet flexible – even the busiest teens can make a home in some part of the Tent. It also says that we’re portable, and indeed The Tent can set up not only at TI, but at TBZ, and who knows where else!
With our amazing teachers and wide variety of electives, our award-winning classes Our Whole Lives (for the 8th grade fall) and TIKKUN: To Take on the World, our first-ever Boston-Haifa Connection class and Israel travel exchange, and more on the horizon, there’s truly something for everyone in The Tent. Join us! We look forward to seeing you in September.
The Tent is hosted at Temple Israel on Monday evenings, with 5:45pm dinner followed by two class options (6:40-7:30 and 7:40-8:30). The teens will choose their classes from a diverse array.
Tuition is $1000 for the year for TBZ members and is subsidized in part by TBZ.
