Men's Study Group
Men's Study Group
The mission of the TBZ Men’s Study Group is twofold: (1) to engage men in the study of Jewish and related texts and explore how they might inform our individual and collective journeys; and (2) to support one another in our efforts to lead more meaningful and fulfilling lives. Members of the group emerge with a deeper understanding of Jewish and related sources on topics that range from the nature of G-d to social justice, and a deep and abiding fellowship with other men in a safe, nonjudgmental, confidential atmosphere. The Group meets about once every three weeks on Shabbat right after kiddush. This year, we were please so see that more men volunteered to facilitate group meetings, and we had several deep discussions about texts that extended over multiple meetings. We also organized a very successful Men’s Shabbat, in which members and other TBZ men led the Torah service and sponsored Kiddush/lunch. For the upcoming year, we are considering a diverse set of texts, including Pirkei Avot (Ethics of the Fathers) and a book on the Mussar tradition.
