SUMMARY:Recovery Shabbat with Rabbi Iggy Gurin-Malus
DESCRIPTION:Friday Night\, during Kabbalat Shabbat Service:\nYou Don't Have
To Be An Addict To Be In Recovery\nRabbi Iggy will discuss his approach t
o recovery as an ongoing process and a spiritual discipline. When combined
with Jewish wisdom and traditions\, spiritual recovery is a powerful anti
dote to addictions of all kinds: substance addictions\, process addictions
\, and behavioral addictions. Addiction is not a failure of moral characte
r but an attempt to adress a spiritual void. Addiction is a problem of the
  soul\, remedied only with a life of purpose\, meaning\, and connection.\n
Rabbi Iggy will also discuss addiction in the Jewish community and its sti
gmas. This discussion is especially instructive not only for those who dir
ectly struggle but for those with loved ones experiencing addiction who wa
nt to find tools to support family\, friends\, and community members.\n\n\
n\nSaturday Morning\, During Shabbat Morning Service:\n Liberation From Th
at which Oppress us: Within Us And In The World.\nHow do we find sovereign
ty\, equanimity and refuge in todays world. Battling our inner demons and
those who seek to destroy us from the outside?\nThis is a presentation of
Rabbi Iggy’s integrated philosophy of the human condition in the modern
world especially these days… By embracing the tools of recovery ― bein
g open\, authentic\, accepting\, and vulnerable ― all of us can find spi
ritual redemption and restore our wholeness. The process of recovery is a
journey towards a better emotional\, mental\, and physical existence in a
difficult world.\n\n\n\nKiddush Talk\, Saturday at 12:30pm\nQ/A with Rabbi
