SUMMARY:Marking October 7: A Community Evening of Remembrance and Reflecti
on (in person - TBZ Sanctuary)
DESCRIPTION:Join members of Congregation Dorshei Tzedek\, Sinai Brookline\,
and Hillel B’nai Torah at TBZ for an evening of remembrance\, reflectio
n\, and conversation as we mark the anniversary of October 7th. Rabbis Tob
 a Spitzer\, Andy Vogel\, Aliza Schwartz\, and Claudia Kreiman will begin w
ith a brief ceremony honoring the lives lost\, those taken hostage\, and t
hose whose lives have been forever changed by the events of that day and i
ts aftermath. Then we will watch Holding Liat\, the 2025 award-winning doc
umentary directed by Brandon Kramer. The film follows the Israeli-American
family of Liat Beinin Atzili after she and her husband\, Aviv\, were kidn
apped from Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7\, 2023. Through the family’s expe
rience\, the film captures the anguish of captivity\, the efforts to advoc
ate for her release\, and the emotional and ideological complexities that
emerge as a family and community navigate an unimaginable moment. The film
invites us to sit with the complexity of October 7th and its aftermath: t
he trauma\, the human stories behind the headlines\, and the difficult que
stions facing Israelis\, Palestinians\, and all of us trying to find a way
  forward.
