DESCRIPTION:How Do We Walk Our Faith? \n\nWe support the Louis D. Brown Pe
 ace Brown Institute and walk as a TBZ community in the Mother’s Day Walk
  for Peace! \n\nA thought-provoking Kiddush Talk on Saturday\, May 6th\n\
 nHear from Boston community leaders Chaplain Clementina Chéry\, Reverend 
 Irene Monroe\,\n\nand TBZ’s own Dr. Katherine Gergen Barnett\n\nJoin us 
 as we discuss the crisis of systemic violence in our neighboring communiti
 es\, how local experts are working to prevent and heal from it\, and what 
 we can do as allies to promote peace. In support of the Mother’s Day Wal
 k for Peace\, this conversation will provide a lens for our community to u
 nderstand the issues that are plaguing our cities.\n\nTBZ members have bee
 n active participants in the Annual Mother’s Day Walk for Peace for the 
 last 5 years and our community has stepped up to support the Institute bot
 h with our feet and with our donations.  Help us meet our fundraising goa

  - a center for healing\, teaching\, and learning for families and communi

 lementina Chéry is the Founder\, President &amp\; CEO of the Louis D. Bro
 wn Peace Institute in Boston\, Massachusetts. The Peace Institute is a cen
 ter of healing\, teaching\, and learning for families and communities impa
 cted by murder\, trauma\, grief\, and loss. Chaplain Chéry and her family
  founded the Peace Institute in 1994 after her 15-year-young son Louis D. 
 Brown was murdered in the crossfire of a shootout .Chaplain Chéry has dev
 eloped the best practices in the field of homicide response. Her professio
 nal goal is to transform society’s response to homicide so that all fami
 lies are treated with dignity and compassion\, regardless of the circumsta
 nces. Her spiritual goal is to become a Minister of God’s Peace that is 
 rooted in love\, unity\, faith\, hope\, courage\, justice\, and forgivenes
 s. In 2023\, she launched The Peace Principle\, a podcast where she leads 
 conversations on ways to heal our wounded hearts. Chaplain Chéry received
  an honorary Doctorate of Ministry from the College of the Holy Cross in W
 orcester\, Massachusetts and was ordained as a senior chaplain with the In
 ternational Fellowship of Chaplain\, Inc. in 2012. Her greatest accomplish
 ments are being the mother of Louis\, Alexandra and Allen\, and the grandm
 other of Alexander\, Adriel\, and Amani.\n\n\n\n                 
             \n\nDr. Katherine Gergen Barnett\n\nDr. Katherine Gergen
  Barnett is the Vice Chair of Primary Care Innovation and Transformation i
 n the Department of Family Medicine at Boston Medical Center (BMC)\, a Cli
 nical Associate Professor at Boston University Chobanian &amp\; Avedisian 
 School of Medicine\, an Associate at Harvard’s Center for Primary Care\,
  and a Health Innovators Fellow at the Aspen Institute\, a highly competit
 ive fellowship that catalyzes leaders to improve US health care. At BMC\, 
 she has served in multiple leadership roles including as a chief resident\
 , Director of Integrative Medicine\, Medical Director\, Residency Director
 \, and Vice Chair. Her primary clinical interests are behavioral health\, 
 preventive medicine\, nutrition\, trauma informed care\, gender affirming 
 care\, women’s health\, reproductive care\, mindfulness-based stress red
 uction\, and group medical care. Dr. Gergen Barnett is involved in local a
 nd state health policy addressing health inequities\, national policy addr
 essing primary care delivery\, and is a regular contributor to The Boston 
 Globe\, Boston Public Radio\, and multiple television outlets.\n\n&nbsp\;\
 n\n\n\nReverend Irene Monroe\n\nThe Rev. Irene Monroe\, is a public theolo
 gian\, ordained minister\, columnist\, and a nationally acclaimed activist
 . She can be heard weekly on the podcast and broadcast Boston Public Radio
  segment” All Rev'd Up” on WGBH Radio (89.7 FM). Monroe is the Boston 
 voice for Detour’s African American Heritage Trail and History UnErased.
  Monroe’s columns appear locally in Bay Windows\, Bay State Banner\, Cam
 bridge Chronicle\, Dig Boston\, Op-eds pieces in the Boston Globe\, Huffin
 gton Post\, and in several cities across the country and in the U.K\, and 
 Canada. A native of Brooklyn\, NY\, Monroe graduated from Wellesley Colleg
 e and Union Theological Seminary at Columbia University\, she was instrume
 ntal in Union United Methodist Church\, a predominately African American c
 hurch in Boston's South End\, becoming a Reconciling Congregation\, first 
 in New England. Monroe has taught at Harvard\, Andover Newton Theological 
 Seminary\, Episcopal Divinity School and UNH. Monroe is a founder and now 
 member emeritus of several national LGBTQ+ black and religious organizatio
 ns\,  and as  an activist Monroe has received numerous awards. Her paper
 s are at the Schlesinger Library at Radcliffe College’s Research Library
  on the History of Women in America. As  an activist Monroe has received 
 numerous awards. By  reporting religion in the news she aims to highlight
  how religious intolerance and fundamentalism not only shatters the goal o
 f American democracy\, but also aids in perpetuating other forms of oppres
 sion such as racism\, sexism\, classism and anti-Semitism.\n\n \n\n&nbsp\
