DESCRIPTION:“I have poured out my heart to Adonai”\n\nOn the first day 
 of Rosh Hashanah\, our haftarah (reading from the Prophets) is Hannah’s 
 prayer. At TBZ\, for reasons of time\, we read in community only the words
  of Hannah’s prayer. But that prayer is presented in the First Book of S
 amuel as the culmination of one of the most remarkable and moving narrativ
 es in our Tanakh (bible).\n\nThis class will offer an opportunity to explo
 re the story of Hannah and her quest for a child and a relationship with G
 od. Perhaps surprisingly\, the rabbis of the Talmud claim her as our teach
 er of how to speak (and cry out) to God. We’ll spend time with both the 
 first chapter of 1 Samuel and the Talmudic passage that uses it as our sou
