Family Table, run by Jewish Family & Children’s Services (JF&CS), is the largest kosher food pantry in New England. It provides healthy food on a monthly and emergency basis to individuals and families in need and serves almost 800 individuals. Family Table relies on volunteers from TBZ and 64 other Jewish organizations to collect, sort, pack, and deliver groceries for recipients. TBZ is responsible for providing 35 cans/boxes of vegetarian soup and 65 boxes of whole-wheat crackers every month. We collect these donations at TBZ on the first and second floor in the large wooden bins. Every TBZ member can contribute to this project by bringing a can of soup or box of crackers every time you come to shul. Feeding your neighbor with such a simple anonymous action is a wonderful mitzvah and one even the busiest among us can do. Other ways to volunteer include helping to bring our donations to JF&CS or to pack and deliver food one Sunday morning during the year. TBZ also holds a community Mitzvah Day once a year when we join together for learning and Family Table deliveries.
