Adult Learning Committee
At TBZ, we are especially proud of the many opportunities that members have for Jewish learning. Our two Rabbis work with the Adult Learning Committee to provide interesting and challenging educational opportunities throughout the year that inspire continued study while building a strong, spiritual, and caring learning community. The Adult Learning Committee meets to brainstorm about various educational ideas, considering requests and feedback from TBZ members. Through the pursuit of opportunities for collaboration with other TBZ committees and local Jewish organizations, we develop and foster programs that serve the varied educational needs of our community. Programs include study opportunities with our Rabbis; Torah study; the holidays and the rhythm of the Jewish calendar; lifecycle events; Jewish philosophy and literature; kashrut; and Shabbat observance, to name a few.
This past year alone, we offered courses on A.J. Heschel’s the Sabbath, on the philosophy of Reb Zalman Schachter-Shalomi, and on teachings of the Rabbis of the Mishnah and Talmud. We are constantly considering ideas for programs with guest rabbis, authors, scholars-in-residence and other speakers. And, TBZ is a participant in Me’ah, a two-year course focusing on Bible, Rabbinics, Medieval and Modern Jewish History. If you would like to help us plan programs for the coming year and beyond, we would love for you to join us.
