Art of the Spirit: The TBZ Faith Quilts
The Faith Quilts Project at Temple Beth Zion is part of the Faith Quilts Project founded by artist Clara Wainwright. The project provides an opportunity for people of different religious perspectives to express their faith visually through the creation of collaborative quilts.
TBZ’s quilts, which are organized around red and blue central panels which represent two sefirot, or Divine Emanations on the Kabbalistc tetragram, will be included in an exhibit of over 50 faith quilts in April 2006 at the Boston Center for the Arts.
In the TBZ Faith Quilts, we celebrate two years of inspired and dedicated creativity by thirty-six shul members, aged 8 to more than 80, in the form of two seven- by fourteen-foot tapestries which express our group and individual spiritual connections to Judaism. Prior to and following the Boston Center for the Arts exhibition, these sacred labors of love will adorn our shul's main sanctuary.
